About the project
The
redevelopment of the foreshore aims to improve accessibility and safety along
the foreshore and improve infrastructure for recreational use and major
events.
The
Surfers Paradise foreshore redevelopment takes in the area from Trickett
Street to Elkhorn Avenue. Council will complete its work in two stages
(north and south) with the area in front of the new Soul building being
carried out by its developer Juniper Group.
The
project is being funded with a commitment of $20 million from Council’s $90
million economic infrastructure stimulus package which is providing
employment opportunities for Gold Coast workers. Additional support of $5
million is being provided by the State Government.
The
project is due for completion by June
2011.
